THE draft State Natural Resource Management Plan was released for public consultation in Bruce Rock recently.
The Council of Natural Resource Agency chief executives called on key stakeholders to provide feedback on the draft at meetings at Bruce Rock, Jerramungup, Geraldton, Harvey, Broome, Kununurra and Perth.
Department of Agriculture and Food manager of strategic analysis Ross George, while introducing the
plan, said CONRACE had worked with local government, land owners and anyone with a keen interest in looking after the country side, while formulating the plan.
“Sustainable management of the environment and natural resources is essential for Western Australia’s continued economic prosperity, for protecting and enhancing the State’s unique lifestyle and for ensuring regional Western Australia is strong and vibrant,” he said.
The State Government had asked CONRACE to
prepare the plan to provide leadership on NRM and encourage greater co-ordination and integration by groups and individuals as well as government organisations in protecting and enhancing WA’s natural resources.
Ten people attended the release of the plan in Bruce Rock and were told the plan builds on existing State plans and policies.
Mr George said once the plan had been accepted, an implementation strategy would be developed.
