Best bird show a winner

THE Merredin and Districts Poultry Society Open Show was held on July 5 with a good number of exhibitors, although the numbers of exhibits was down.

Judges for the event were Peter Growden and Kevin Nordstrom and Bird of Show, sponsored by Peter Growden, was won by R and S Simmons with an Australorp cockerel.

The Simmons family also won Best Young Bird in Show, sponsored by Tony Gillett and Best Pair, sponsored by Greg Hunter and M Huckstep.

Reserve Champion of Show sponsored by Peter Strike was won by Peter Growden with his Australian game hen.

Most Points, sponsored by Greg Hunter, was won by the Lewis Family and Most Points Local was won by L and R Johnson.

Peter Growden won Best Hard Feather large, sponsored by the Lewis Family, with an Australian game large hen. Reserve Hard Feather

Large was won by Robert Hayes-Thompson with a black red Malay hen.

R and S Simmons won Best Heavy Breed Large, sponsored by the Lewis Family, with an Australorp cockerel. Reserve Heavy Breed was also won by R and S Simmons with an Australorp pullet.

Peter Growden won the Lewis Family-sponsored Best Light Breed Large with an Ancona hen. Reserve Light Breed large was won by Peter Growden with an Andalusian hen.

Ian Robinson won Best Hard Feather Bantam, sponsored by the Lewis Family, with an old English game black red rooster. Reserve Hard Feather Bantam was won by Andrew Ryall with a jubilee Indian game rooster.

R and S Simmons won Best Light Breed Bantam, sponsored by the Lewis Family, with a white Leghorn cockerel. Reserve Light Breed Bantam was also won by R and S Simmons with a white Leghorn pullet.

Lester Flint won Best Heavy Breed Bantam, sponsored by the Lewis Family, with a white Pekin cockerel. Reserve Heavy Breed Bantam was won by Andrew Ryall with an Australian langshan pullet.

Brianna and Talia Simmons won Best Junior, sponsored by L and R Johnson, with a soft feather bantam hen.
