Junior fire brigade

MERREDIN Junior Volunteer Fire and Rescue will meet this Sunday at 10am at the Fire Brigade Running Track next to the hockey fields at the Merredin Regional Community and Leisure Centre.

The purpose of the meeting will be to start competition training for the coming season and welcome new members in to the sport.

The competition is divided into two divisions for ages 11 to 13, and 14 to 16 and operates from August through to the State Championships held in Fremantle at the end of November.

The competition is made up of 11 events, six dry and five wet events using water to hit targets.

All events are time based and help to improve coordination and team work.

Merredin will host a competition on the weekend of October 25 and 26 which will draw teams from the Goldfields, Great Southern, South West and metropolitan areas.
