MERREDIN’S Josh Herbert is the Southern Cross Prince of the Cross for this year.

Herbert, riding a Yamaha and sponsored by Five Star Yamaha, won the Kid of the Cross in 2006 and followed up with the Prince of the Cross in this year’s event.

The young gun of dirt bikes is now aiming for the trifecta by winning the King of the Cross next year.

If he can win the coveted King of the Cross, he will be the first person to win all three events in the history of the cross.

King of the Cross was won by Jarrod Hockley on a Yamaha, Pro Prince of the Cross was won by Paul Grant on a KTM, Intermediate Prince of the Cross was won by Josh Herbert on a Yamaha sponsored by Five Star Yamaha, Great Eastern Freight Lines, Fox, Belray and Dunlop.

Clubman Prince of the Cross was won by Adam Murray on a Yamaha, Veteran of the Cross was won by Steven Mouritz.

Queen of the Cross was won by Kristie Gillespie, carrying the number one plate on a KTM and Quad of the Cross was won by Christopher Brenton on a Honda.

Best local rider was Vernon Strange on a Yamaha and the Kid of the Cross was won by Daniel Shrimp on a KTM.
